There are many ways to serve Girls on the Run of Greater Lynchburg; Coach, Running Buddy, Committee Member and Race Day Volunteer to name a few.  As the organization grows to meet the needs of the Region 2000/Central Virginia area,  strong leadership is required for the building of the infrastructure necessary to sustainability.  We ask that our Board Members be willing to commit to the following:

  1. Support the mission and vision of Girls on the Run International.
  2. Commit to serve on the Girls on the Run Board of Directors for a 2-year term.
  3. Attend 70% of all Board Meetings, prepared for and willing to participate.
  4. Maintain Confidentiality of the Board’s deliberations.
  5. Exercise prudence with the Board in the control and transfer of funds.
  6. Faithfully read and understand the organization’s financial statements and otherwise help the Board fulfill it fiduciary responsibility.
  7. Give an annual gift according to personal means.
  8. Assist in implementing fundraising strategies through personal influence with others.
  9. Know the organization’s purpose, goals, policies, objectives and programs.
  10. Support Girls on the Run in the local and national community.
  11. Serve in leadership positions and take on assignments willingly when asked.
  12. Identify and cultivate financial supporters to Girls on the Run.
  13. Identify potential Board Members.
  14. Identify and recruit new coaches, volunteers and participants.
